Doctor Tongue Live at the Casbah in Hamilton Ontario

Updated: Sep 27, 2022

This was the band's best show so far. The band took us on a journey of love, loss and emancipation. It's ok to be a listener; the recordings I've heard are outstanding, but until you've seen them live, you will never understand what Doctor Tongue is about. I feel I fully understand that after this show.

Everyone has their beliefs and conflicts; I know I have too many. I've got my preconceived ideas of what music should be and how I will and won't like it. For some reason, none of those things matter during and after a Doctor Tongue show. The singer takes us on a journey, and the band is like his spaceship. Except we were not travelling anywhere, we thought we could exist. It is like going into yourself and finding a new universe you didn't even know about. Then, all of a sudden, nothing is that important. I am left with a lightness of being. It's never about them, it's more about the moment, and we are all a part of the performance, so it's tough to put into words. I could give you the play-by-play, but I'd instead share a few photos I stole from Benjamin Washington. This is one of those cases where a picture is worth a thousand words, but It will never be a whole story without being there and feeling the magic created.
